Summer Day Camps
Registration forms must be filled out for all campers. Each camper receives a camp t-shirt. Please call the YMCA at 724-483-8077 for more information.
4-6 year Camp Themes:
- Week 1 ~ A Very Busy Spider ~ June 11-15: While Miss Spider is busy spinning her web the farm animals are getting into trouble. Oh no, the animals are loose! Who will help our farmers round them up? After we round up the animals we will help them decide "Are You My Mother?" We'll take home a cute baby chick, a piggy bank and whatever we find lost in the haystack.
- Week 2 ~ Wild Things in the Jungle ~ June 18-22: This is your chance to see what it is like to be a wild thing. We'll all make T-shirts and masks. Wild things love to make noise so a musical instrument and some loud popping sounds are in order. We love to jump on the trampoline and do a crazy obstacles course. A wild looking frame is how we will take home our memories.
- Week 3 ~ Mario's Adventure ~ June 25-29: Mario and Luigi must save Princess Peach from the Goombas. On the way we'll all get to collect coins. Enter the Yoshi tongue challenge but beware of the Piranah Plants and don't drop the Yoshi eggs! Who will get stars to become indestructible? We all seem to be looking a lot more like Mario and Luigi these days. Be a part of the adventure!
- Week 4 ~ Dizzy Dinosaurs ~ July 9-13: There is an erupting volcano at the YMCA this week. How about taking home a T-Rex and some dinosaur fossils? You will always have sweet dreams of dinosaurs when you lay your head down on a dinosaur pillowcase. Your head will be dizzy from dinosaurs this week!
- Week 5 ~ Ready, Set, Go! ~ July 16-20: The campers will be traveling in their very own homemade "box" cars. They will learn the rules of the road, like stopping at stop signs, yielding and not being a road hog. Our cars will be customized with Vanity License plates. How about a little "Red Light, Green Light" or a car search? We'll get the checkered flag in our road rally photo finish, framed especially for you!
- Week 6 ~ The Mystery Machine ~ July 23-27: Scooby and his gang are coming to the YMCA for one scary week. There will be bones to eat, ghosts to hunt and time to feed the monsters. You can make a ghost magnet and pencil holder that glows in the dark to remind you of all the fun. Let's go through the haunted house and find the Scooby snacks. Don't let the spooky characters scare you, some are just waiting to play zombie tag.
- Week 7 ~ Lilo & Stitch's Big Splash ~ July 30-August 3: Come join Lilo and Stitch as they do a little surfing and enjoy a little Rock n Roll. Combing the sand for treasure is sure to please everyone! Making sand dollars and a really cool beach shirt will help you fit right in. Tiny bubbles everywhere and learning to surf on your own board is so much fun! You'll never forget your time at the beach "Y" style with your ALOHA frame!
All camps include songs, stories and swimming. Camp is geared to the socialization needs of young children with our number one priority being safety.
7-12 year Camp Themes:
- Week 1 ~ Wild, Wild West ~ June 11-15: First we'll build a western town, complete with general store and jail. We'll go back in time and make candles like the settlers did, and take home a rock that tells direction. The week will end with a pony express style relay to see which group is the best in the west.
- Week 2 ~ Jedi Training ~ June 18–22: The Jedi masters are looking for new and knowledgeable Jedi trainees. You must pass all challenges in your light saber training. Chewbacca will be at your side (on your hand) for the remainder of your training. All will join in a pod race, and trivia contest. Only those who possess the Force will survive. May the force be with YOU!
- Week 3 ~ Amazing Race - World ~ June 25–29: This time we will be traveling the world to face new and unusual challenges. We will be trying some strange competitions with food, scooters and legos. There will be some boomerangs and stones flying from our catapults this week. We will have plenty of luck in a key chain and a special oriental frame. Teamwork is the key to a successful completion of this race!
- Week 4 ~ Return of the Zombies ~ July 9-13: Zombies have taken over the camp. It all starts with zombie shirts, gravestones and a little fake blood. How about a zombie hand to take home and share with your friends? Don't tell me you're afraid! We need campers to go on the haunted zombie hike. Maybe if we make a really good graveyard they will return to their graves. Come join the fun!
- Week 5 ~ National Treasure ~ July 16-20: What do you know about our country and it's history? We will encounter snakes, bombs, planes and a treasure. Clues will be hidden in very unusual places. We will have to solve the clues, unravel the mystery but also be careful we don't get lost. Will we complete the task before our evil enemy gets the information he needs?
- Week 6 ~ Wet & Wild ~ July 23-27: It's so hot, the sun is beating down and you just want to cool off. Play in the water with your cork boats. Tame the sun with a sun-catcher. You may find a few surprises hidden in the sand too. You'll definitely be wet having a jelly fish toss, beach bowling and under water races. Be cool this summer and come to camp!
- Week 7 ~ Super Hero Carnival ~ July 30-August 3: When you get to know our counselors you will realize they are truly super heroes. This week is going to be a carnival with lots of games to design and make ourselves. Friday is the day for games and fun including sand jars, fuse board creatures and face painting. Come celebrate the end of summer with a crazy carnival!
