Infants: Age 6 weeks to 1 year
Are you looking for a safe, secure, caring “home away from home” where children can learn, grow and play? Watch your child develop towards a bright future when sharing his or her developmental experiences with the Mon Valley YMCA Child Learning Center.
We have designed a program that will build your infants self esteem, spark curiosity, develop socialization, and focus on cognitive and motor development through playtime and activities.
Infants are unique and have their own patterns for play, feeding and sleeping. Our caregivers use these patterns to guide and introduce daily activities that will prepare your infant for their adventures in life. Our highly trained caregivers offer nurturing, lots of personal attention and a creative environment for infant to develop their bodies and minds.
Toddlers: Age 1-3 years
Look out world, here I come! I’m walking, talking and beginning to develop relationships. Your toddler has so many things he or she wants to see and do and the Mon Valley YMCA Child Learning Center wants to guide you and your child every step of the way.
Your child will build friendships, confidence and self-esteem in our toddler classroom, and will grow into their own person, ready to tackle the next challenge in life.
- Toddlers learn through sensory experiences that enhance their cognitive, language, motor and social skills.
- Toddlers are naturally curious and want to explore the world around them.
- We have designed our classroom and equipment to support safe exploration so that your child has room to discover, be creative and explore new adventures in their young life.
- Toddlers need an environment that is interesting to explore, safe and filled with caring caregivers who respond to their emotional and intellectual needs.
- Daily lessons incorporate a number of activities such as songs, crafts, games, stories and more.
Ages 3 years to child entering Kindergarten
Your child will be challenged to explore and learn in our stimulating and fun classroom environment. This is a critical time in a child's life as they begin the adventure of a lifetime of learning. Every day your child is learning, growing and doing more each and every day. This is why the Mon Valley YMCA Child Learning Center is for your child.
Our Year Round Child Care program provides a rich classroom environment where children are encouraged to explore and are challenged to learn. Your child will make new friends and develop self-confidence as they strengthen their cognitive skills. Watch your child explode in new learning and flourish in our stimulating classroom environment.
Daily lessons incorporate a number of activities such as:
- Math skills: numbers including sorting, grouping and counting
- Language and Literacy: developing reading and writing skills and introduce important literacy concepts.
- Creativity and Imagination: Dramatic play, music and art activities give children the opportunity to showoff their creativity.
- Physical Development: Our experienced caregivers work with the children to develop their large motor skills-running, jumping, throwing and kicking.
- Coordination skills: such as writing, cutting, drawing and other activities.
- Social skills are a big part of our day. Children are encouraged to respect others by listening and cooperating with each other, sharing, taking turns and manners.
The Mon Valley YMCA Child Learning Center encourages all children to express themselves creatively and develop their own unique skills and interests.
