Childcare: Summer Day Care/School Age Day Care
The Mon Valley YMCA Summer Day Care, which runs June through August, is dedicated to provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment for children with working parents.
The Mon Valley YMCA Summer Day care program has served the mid Mon Valley with child care since 1989. We are a licensed day care center for children ages K - 12 years. (See our year-round care program for younger children.) Our center is open Monday through Friday 6:30AM-6:00PM. We do except financial assistance from C.C.I.S and the department of welfare.
Children are divided by the grade that they have just completed and separated into classrooms. Qualified staff providers will plan a fun filled summer full of a wide range of activities to keep your child busy throughout the day. These activities include swimming, team games, hiking, crafts, reading stories, group board games and checker contests.
Educational field trips and guest speakers are also a part of Summer Day Care with an additional fee. The day care center has taken field trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo, Idlewild Park, Pittsburgh Science Center, the movies and out for lunch. All field trips are supervised by day care staff providers, and transportation is provided by Hilltop Bus Line.
Parents may want to supplement other programs here at the YMCA with summer day care, swimming lessons, swim team or any programs that are available during day care hours at an additional cost. Our day care staff will escort your child to their class and pick them up and return them to the day care at no additional fee.
