Water Exercise Classes
Water exercise classes are available for every fitness level. Classes run in eight week sessions throughout the year. Participants can join a session at any time.
Arthritis Exercise—Do gentle exercises in our heated pool under the guidance of trained personnel. Program works all major muscle groups. Begins and ends with a stretch. Swimming skills are not necessary.
Aquafit—High-energy, low impact aerobic class that is perfect for those who can’t participate in traditional programs. Use the water’s resistance to work on posture, muscle strengthening and balance. Class ends with a full body stretch. Swimming skills are not necessary.
Splash Dance—Rhythmic water exercise program designed to condition the cardiovascular system and provide a workout for all muscles of the body. Class is appropriate for all fitness levels and water buoyancy allows those who normally can’t exercise to engage in activity. No swimming skills are necessary.
SilverSplash—This aqua-exercise class offers shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Swimming skills are not necessary.
Aqua Zumba—Incorporates dance and fitness moves making it fun for anyone who wants to exercise in the water. Accompanied by mostly Latin music rhythms such as meringue and salsa. Aqua Zumba makes exercise seem like a pool party!
Wet Vest—This deep water exercise program provides an overall workout using all muscle groups. Swimming skills are not required but are helpful to use the Wet Vest. Participants recovering from surgery, injury or who suffer from arthritis can improve their condition while participating in this no-impact program.

Masters Swim Team
AMYMSA is the Allegheny Mountain YMCA Master Swimming Association. This association began in 1976 to promote competitive swimming in the “more mature” ages (18 and over). The association has member teams from YMCA’s that span the Allegheny Mountain region of Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Ohio and West Virginia. It sponsors about 12 regular meets per year that each cover about half for the swimming evens, a Mail-In 1650 meet and a championship meet at the end of the season that covers all the events. The regular season starts in September and runs thorough March at either the local YMCA’s, a local college/university/high school or other available municipal pools.
Practice
You would take it upon yourself to practice. We will not hold team practices. We would show up at the meets as a team under the Mon Valley YMCA name. A small fee will be needed for membership.
Swim Meets
It is up to your discretion to show up to as many swim meets as you would like. All swimmers must swim in at least 3 regular meets in order to be eligible for the championship meet. There is a $7.00 entry fee for each meet which includes snacks and drinks.
If interested please contact Aquatics Director, Amy Bozek at amy@monvalleyymca.org or 724-483-8077.
